Catholic Moral Theology
April 10, 2011
This is a shout-out to a smart bunch of young Catholic moral theologians who have recently started catholicmoraltheology.com. I know several in this group and know that they are rooted in faith and sincerely devoted to the big questions facing both the Church and the society. All are credentialed and represent the next wave of moral theologians in the U.S. So after you read Vox Nova check out their blog. For starters, consider Thomas Bushlack’s comments on the US Bishop’s critique of Elizabeth Johnson’s book Quest for the Living God.

A look at the contributors list reveals some familiar names. Berkman is at Regis, my school. Camosi just gave a presentation here. I gave a shout-out to Cloutier and Mattison in an old post “Critiquing Chris West.” And I saw Patrick Clark give an awesome presentation on NFP as formation for a counter-consumerist, pro-environmental attitude and lifestyle at the CTSA annual meeting in Halifax 2 years back. And King and I have exchanged a few e-mails because we have both written books about dating.
I expect this will be an impressive blog. Thanks Tim.
As you might know, I had Berkman for my one “moral theology class” I had to take at CUA. Sadly, the class was experimental, and I found myself disagreeing with Berkman in it too often. Only afterward did I find his scholarly work, which I appreciate a great deal, and I wished more of that work (such as with animal rights) had been used in his class.
That looks great – thank you for this link!
