Sex Slavery Defender as Committee Chair

December 9, 2010

Ralph Hall from Texas (where else?) is slated to become chair of the House Science and Technology Committee. Of course, he is in the pocket of the oil and gas industry. That is a given. But it’s far worse. Remember Jack Abramoff and his toadies Tom DeLay and Ralph Reed? If you recall, Abramoff got his friends to support the right of his clients in the Northern Mariana islands to be able to retain “made in the USA” labels on the clothes they made, without having to respect labor laws. And I mean any labor laws. Abramoff’s clients forced women into sex slavery, including forced prostitution, as well as forced abortion. The so-called pro-life party had no problems with any of this. After all, Saipan was a haven of deregulation and free market capitalism. And one of the worst toadies was Ralph Hall, who publicly slandered a fifteen-year old girl sold into sex slavery, claiming that “she wanted to do nude dancing”. Welcome back, Republicans! Welcome back, pro-life and pro-family party! We missed you!

Another win win for big oil and gas. They frack our water supplies. They put people like this in power. It’s amazing. Yet, you would hear nothing of this anywhere else. Really disturbing about Abramoff and the labor laws. *shakes head*

You know, I kind of wish that I was still a member of the GOP so that I could quit in disgust.

I left them in 1995 after they won on “character counts” and then put Jesse Helms, Bob Packwood, and Newt Gingrich into important offices.

    Uggggh …

Not that this should be our moral standard, but is Ralph Hall actually on record anywhere defending the practives of sex slavery?

And, if not, isn’t your headline as bad as those who call President Obama a “babykiller” or “pro-infanticide?”

Can you also please point me to the Vox Nova post where you criticized the Democrats for appointing Charlie Rangel chair of the Ways and Means Committee?

Please don’t take any of this to be a defense of Rep. Hall. Just that selective outrage does not seem to be a malady limited to Republicans.
