Brief Note

July 6, 2010

For the next few weeks, I will be less active on Vox Nova. I do plan to do a couple posts during this time, but I will not be able to engage comments as much and I will not post as much as usual. There are three reasons for this:

  • I am trying to get a project done
  • I am preparing for a move
  • I am doing a lot of spiritual work and prayer in relation to my father’s health. He has been diagnosed with pre-leukemia, and of a kind which is difficult to deal treat (there is chromosome damage involved with his problem). The medicine he has been prescribed is experimental in nature. Chemotherapy was ruled out because of his age and the nature of the problem.  His insurance company has been causing problems getting the medicine — it has been over two weeks since he was prescribed it, and it looks like he should finally get it this week (he had to change his medicare supplemental insurance, and pay for it out of hand this month to get it, and even then, it looks like it will be a push to get them to pay for it as they should). He has also been put on a bone marrow transplant list, in the off chance a donor match can be found. If not, the prognosis is anywhere from .5 to 5 years of life expectancy. If the medicine helps slow down the problem, it will be longer. If a bone marrow donor can be found, that would of course give him a better chance of survival. Otherwise, it is in the hands of God. Please pray for him and my family during this time, that all that can be done, will be done, both physically and spiritually.
