Return from the AAR
I just returned from this year’s AAR Conference, and I am in the process of slowly unpacking and getting myself back to normal. It will be a few days before I get back into full gear and do some writing for Vox Nova. Nonetheless, I wanted to share some of my experience, and so I am going to be uploading a few short videos from one of the presentations. I didn’t have a tripod for my camera, and I was not too close (nor too far) from the speaker, so the quality is not as high as I would like. But I think much of what he says in this portion of his presentation was quite worthwhile, and others would find it interesting. I will put up another video (or two) tomorrow (they are slow for me to upload).
Without further introduction, here is Slavoj Žižek

I found it interesting that he opened up with this discussion, after my post on InsideCatholic last week.
Thanks for this treat!
Sam,
You are welcome. I slowly uploading other videos, and will put at least one more up on VN this week. But I thought I would begin with that one, because it was the opening of his presentation, and it worked well as a consistent whole.
The display of his characteristic manic energy with all of his gesturing is amusing.

I wish I recorded the best example of his manic (and humorous) actions. The last ten minutes of his presentation, he kept saying he was almost done (telling it to the one presiding over the panel). The last time he said, “I really mean it, see” and he showed he was on the last page of his written remarks. still it was about 5 mins after that he was done, sat down. People clapped. He clapped too, then got up and explained himself, saying something like: “The fascists had people clap for them, Stalin would clap with the people to show he was one with them. In that way, one can say I am in agreement with Stalin.”
