Diplomacy over Militarism?
September 17, 2009
(AP) The Obama administration is shelving an Eastern European missile defense plan that has been a major irritant in relations with Russia, a U.S. ally said Thursday. The Pentagon confirmed a “major adjustment” of the system designed to guard against Iranian missiles.
Jan Fischer, the prime minister of the Czech Republic, told reporters that President Barack Obama phoned him overnight to say the U.S. “is pulling out of plans to build a missile defense radar on Czech territory.”
The missile defense system, planned under the Bush administration, was being built in the Czech Republic and Poland.

Mark,
I’ve heard “speculation” and “rumbling” which I don’t really believe, but can’t entirely dismiss, is that this was done to appease Russia so Russia will look the other way if Israel does a raid on Iran.
Henry,
This would be most troubling, if true.
It is. And it seems Israel/Russia are in secret talks over Iran:
