Oh Ye of Little Faith

RNC chairman Michael Steele has come in for a lot of criticism for a number of seemingly boneheaded comments on everything from abortion to the environment to the Republican Party generally. What people fail to realize, however, is that all these statements were actually part of a cunning plan by Steele to see who his true friends were:

Heh, that clip reminded me of something that might appear on the TV show The Office. Picture Micheal (played by Steven Carell) saying something like that to the camera – even the mannerisms are the same.
Forget Steele, the most offensive part is the link a site called “Creative Minority Report”, a blog that I assume considers itself Catholic (by imagery and by the reference to the pope’s words), and yet a blog that seems to offer an insider’s defense of the Republican party against criticism. This is really a microcosm of everything wrong with the Catholic blogoshere right now. To these guys: if you want to vote for and support Republicans because you think they do the least harm in the public sphere, fine. But if you want to set up a blog publicly allying yourself to the Republican party, then maybe you should remove the Catholic trappings.
MM, agreed re: the creators of that site.
This guy is hilarious! I hope he sticks around for a very long time.
MM,
I understand your point. I do find it odd, however, that while you’re accusing CMR of being beholden to the Republican Party, the link you’re objecting to is one where we are criticizing the Republican Chairman.
But one does not visit Vox Nova for consistency or logic.
Now that’s a narrative!
The insanity of the GOP has a lot in common with the insanity of the Ratzinger church. Implosion is afoot.
