A poignant point for an outgoing administration

“When an American president leaves office with the Constitution more or less intact, and without a lot of dead American boys scattered around the planet, we out to give him a medal.”

  1. Excellent find!

Off to the ash pile of history he goes, still clueless. This is altogether fitting, since the country is in much the same state, incinerated by deregulation, and war costs.

His administration was, so he, a success because America is now safer than 7 years ago. I guess the “innocents abroad” don’t matter much. And, what matters most, so he, is that he did not “compromise his soul.” An interesting soul that is not compromised by such deeds. The man is clearly insane, oblivious. His posse on the other hand is ice cold and found in him the perfect tool.

Do let the door hit you in the ass on your way out. As far as the bizarre Obama cult goes, that’s only because of the nefarious nature and disastrous effects of the Bush administration.

Not a lot of dead American boys. But he certainly left a lot of dead foreign boys, (and girls and women) scattered about in Kosovo and via American sanctions on Iraq.

The only medal he deserves is the kind put on a war criminal.

Although I voted for him twice, I found the man an utter disappointment. And there are 4,847 dead American bodies strewn on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan as of today. For a war that this man has admitted he may have been mistaken about. Here are their faces. http://projects.washingtonpost.com/fallen/ Save the medals for them and their families.

This fellow should be behind metal bars.

Let’s see if Obama has the courage to prosecute for torture, along with other war crimes. I doubt it.

I have to agree with the sentiments already put forward, except I’m not sure what Mr. Naus means when he speaks of a “bizarre Obama cult.” Put together the usual warm “honeymoon” feelings lots of people have for an incoming president with the feelings most African Americans and “liberals” will have about the first black president, and you have pretty much accounted for Obama Mania.

At any rate, I don’t think we have to worry too much about any Obama Cult taking over the government any time soon, We still have those famous checks and balances that have served us well for a long time, not to speak of the Republican Party (not dead yet!) and Talk Radio and even the Mainstream Media–plenty of forces out there that will speak up loudly if Barack tries to pull any fast ones.

Like most Americans right now, and most Catholic Americans as well, I am hopeful and ready to give our new president the benefit of the doubt.

And in the end, as the previous commenters establish so well, how good will Obama really have to do to show himself a vast improvement over his predecessor?

  6. Go to iTunes and download the 48-songs-for-Obama pack :) This is a new quality of adoration (liberal this time) and Messiah-expectations. A cult of personality. As I said, made possible by the Bush gang. Of course, nobody can live up to these expectations. But, you always have the cursed memory of Bush to make you look good. Remembering the plague, the flu is a welcome guest.

    From one conservatie commentator today:

“President Barack Obama promised to restore the rule of law and to prevent future wrongdoing by high-level government officials.

To honor that promise, Mr. Obama should investigate, among others, former President George W. Bush, former Vice President Dick Cheney, former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, former Attorney General John Ashcroft, former White House counsel and Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, and former White House political adviser Karl Rove. The crimes to be investigated should include complicity in torture, illegal surveillance, illegal detention, perjury, obstruction of justice and contempt of Congress. Prosecutions should follow if the evidence convinces a grand jury to indict.”

George Bush, war criminal? Isn’t that laying it on a little thick?

You can’t have it both ways people. Either he is a clueless, blithering idiot or he is an evil mastermind.

All presidents kill people. Unless they’re evil masterminds, they try to save more than they kill. Perhaps the week will not be out before President Obama has blood on his hands, too.

    Why so naive?

  10. “President Barack Obama promised to restore the rule of law and to prevent future wrongdoing by high-level government officials.”

Of course, former president George W. Bush promised to “restore honor and dignity to the White House”.
