Be Seeing You

January 14, 2009

UPDATE: Catholic actor Ricardo Montalbán passed away today at the age of 88. Among the highricardomontalbanlights of his impressive life of acting and service, he was married to the same woman for 63 years, received the first Spirit of Angelus award, and he narrated the EWTN documentary on Fatima. Movie clips are below.

prisoner2Likewise, the philosophically-minded Patrick McGoohan has also died at the age 80. He was one of my favorite actors and his work has influenced me and my thoughts in so many different ways. He is best known for his role as Number 6 from The Prisoner (which he co-produced, co-directed, and co-wrote for), but also for his part as John Drake in Secret Agent and as one of many foils who would show up in Columbo.

Eternal memory, O Lord.

Here is a rare 1984 interview McGoohan gave concerning The Prisoner:

Part II

And from an earlier, 1977 interview:

Part II

Part III

Part IV

Here are some classic scenes from Montalbán’s career:

The Prisoner was a wonderful show. Mr. McGoohan will most certainly be missed.

Who edited this post? BTW, I think PM was Catholic, too. At one point he was thinking of being a Catholic priest, so at least he was raised Catholic. I don’t think he left the faith. He held strong religious beliefs, as people who watch the interviews can see.
