Sen. Ted Kennedy taken to hospital (Updated)
September 26, 2008
7:05 EST: Just now breaking, the word is that Sen. Ted Kennedy was just taken to the hospital for an undisclosed reason.
Of note is Kennedy’s cooperation with Sen. Sam Brownback in the passage of a bill Tuesday in the Senate that seeks to provide comprehensive information to pregnant mothers whose children are diagnosed with Down syndrome. Brownback believes the bill may promote the choice for life among these mothers. (H/T: CITPS)
UPDATE: MSNBC reports that Sen. Kennedy is not in serious condition, but details are still lacking.

Time to pray the rosary or pray to St Joseph for the dying (if needed). I hope he has a change of heart regarding his support of abortion.
Greg, supporting pro-choice in America is not the same as being pro-abortion.
Greg, supporting pro-choice in America is not the same as being pro-abortion.
No but it makes a great cudgel with which to beat your political enemies over the head.
A lie repeated often enough becomes the truth. I told the congress NO on that Bridge to Nowhere!
Gerald Campbell,
What kind of clown are you? The man’s immortal soul may be at stake and you are trying to pull a fast one?
My immortal soul is at stake every moment…I hope that grace covers the blemishes.
The one time Gerald shows up in recent months, and it’s to defend the concept of being “pro-choice.” Will the bloggers here who dishonestly claimed that Gerald is not “pro-choice” take the opportunity to ask him to deny that he’s pro-choice (that is, ask him whether or not he wants abortion to be made illegal right now)?
From what I’ve heard, this thing with Teddy is thought to be due to a change of medication and not terribly serious. Of course when you have a critical illness *everything* is serious but hopefully he’s not at death’s door at the moment. He looked remarkably well at the convention and met with the Chilean president in Hyannis a few days ago. And as long as we are praying for people’s immortal souls, Bob Novak “the prince of darkness” is suffering from the same illness and described his condition as “dire”. We might want to include him on the prayer list.
S.B.,
Your fantastical analysis of Gerald’s single statement is far afield. His statement is:
Supporting X is not equivalent to supporting Y.
Notice he did not say: I support X or I support Y. You’ve got be a bit more rational, seriously. Note also that his statement is in reference to Kennedy’s support of X.
It’s not fantastical at all. In the realm of pure logic, you’d have a point. In the real world, when an individual has written a ream of pro-choice comments (e.g., claiming that the Catholic doctrine of “subsidiarity” actually “justifies” being pro-choice, or claiming that it would be “insane” to make abortion illegal), then when he leaps to a politician’s defense (within 14 minutes of the original comment) on the grounds that pro-choice is not the same as pro-abortion, it is reasonable to assume that his comment is of a piece with everything else he has ever said, and that, far from making an abstruse philosophical point, he is doing nothing other than trying to defend his much-loved “pro-choice” position from being maligned.
But go ahead, if you’re actually confident in the intellectual honesty of your defenses (to date) of Gerald Campbell, then ask him directly whether he agrees with the Catholic doctrine that we should try to make abortion illegal right here and now.
Also, Poli, you might take note that if Gerald monitors the comments this closely, and if he were not in fact pro-choice, he has had quite a few opportunities by now to deny being pro-choice, and to say affirmatively that he does believe that Catholics are morally obligated — right now, not at some later date — to try to make abortion illegal. Instead, he left you and Henry to twist in the wind with your dissembling on his behalf.
Policratus,
If you publicly support abortion, it is more than a blemish.
Greg,
You are being rediculous. I personally know Policratus, and I can ASSURE you that he in no way supports abortion.
Get a grip.
jn
This is why I think Scalia is so unpatriotic. He is pro-flag-burning.
I didn’t say Policratus personally does…I was referring to any person who publicly supports abortion has more than a “blemish” on his or her soul. Of course I know Policratus doesn’t support abortion.
Oh. k.
Off Topic
. Says:
It seems a number of people are being dianosed with brain tumors these days…the jury is out on the connection between use of cell phones and brain cancer. Great Britain has banned them for use by children under 18 years old.
May God be with Ted Kennedy and his family.
S.B.,
How many consecutive and unanswered follow-up comments do you need to post in order to make your fantastical point? In terms of “realms,” I don’t forge a dichotomy between the logical and real. I take Gerald for what he offers in the real, and I analysis it with the logical. I suggest you do the same out of good will instead of tossing around concepts without feet.
It’s not fantastical at all to point out that, in the real world, when you see someone who takes umbrage over other people’s failure to distinguish between “pro-choice” and “pro-abortion,” that is a strong sign that you’re talking to a pro-choicer. And what do you know, Gerald Campbell is, in fact, pro-choice, as has been shown by his numerous comments claiming that it would be “insane” to outlaw abortion, that the pro-choice view is “ethical,” that the Catholic doctrine of subsidiarity “justifies” him in being pro-choice, that there has to be a “different” way other than trying to overturn Roe, and so forth ad nauseam. It’s telling that even now, all you can do is get mad at me for pointing out the obvious, rather than admitting that Gerald is pro-choice.
