There Shall Be No Dissent or Decorum

Various items from named contributors (as opposed to users, a list of about 20 people) from RedState:

It may not be November yet, but our boy Barry isn’t wasting any time acting as if here were already our next President and he’s out there doing the Lord’s work of healing America.

An interesting category for posts: Like Jesus But Cooler

Sorry – a la “The Exorcist” – that’s all that ran through my head as I listened to the Obamessiah give his sermon at a place that once enjoyed a similar spectacle when Hitler addressed his OWN zealots…and we all know how well THAT worked out, don’t we?

Pointing out the childishness of this nonnsense resulted in my being banned there.  It’s just as well.  I no longer swim in the Republican pool due to how polluted it has become, and RedState isn’t recognizable as a pool anymore.  It is just a place for a bunch foul mouthed children with illusions of grandeur.

Update: Eric Erickson of RedState offers amateur psychoanalysis here for those interested.

Oh fine.  I’ll open comments.

pardon me for taking some time with this. i’ve been reading redstate since their inception. 4 years? 5 years? not sure. really, really enjoyed it for a long time. in 2005 or maybe early 2006, i told a (fellow democratr) friend of mine – about blogs – that i was so impressed with right blogs (redstate was in my mind) because they had civil and smart discourse about policly. and i so hated (as a liberal) that liberal blogs were sh**. full of only nastiness and hatred. alright, i still read them, but i did think they were empty and sucked.

then, after 2006, when republicans lost congressional power and democrats took over (just barely, almost NOT), things begain to change at redstate. it was slow. now it is full tilt. i liked them a lot for not being ugly – i thought other sites were ugly – kos, underground, fireDL, etc., – but redstate wasn’t, i thought. . it began to change after the 2006 elections. and has only become worse. they have become everything they always railed against on liberal blogs.

i’ve read redstate every day for these years, i read human events, powerline, CQ, lots of these blogs because i have enjoyed the policy information and tenor offered. redstate is the one that has gone completely downhill since 2006. first it was the extremely narrow democratic victory that upset them, but now it is an extremely moving & powerful message from a popular democratic candidate for president – barack obama. redstate now waffles back and forth between determined ugliness to a sort of accidental and embarrassing stupidity. and, by the way, i’ve thought many, many times of posting these thoughts on redstate, for their information, for them to maybe gain something from it, maybe reflect on it. but i didn’t. because i know so well that no point, no thought, no matter how respectfull or how meaningful it MIGHT be, would be summarily dismissed, without the first thought. if you are not in line, towing the line. don’t bother.

yes, i still read it every day. but i have noticed the decline in substance and, i also think the decline in followers (commenters) speaks to this as well. the 10 diehards are strong, though.

they are partners. but not remotely equal, but please turn to humanevents.com as an alternative. 2006 did not change the tone or quality of posts from these contributors.

thanks for your patience for that LONG post. it’s been on my mind for a very long time.

forgive typos please, it’s been a very long day.

    many thanks.

At least the irony of a complaint about censorship on a comment thread with…closed comments…has been removed.

That said, I agree with and am sympathetic to the complaint expressed in the post.

Agreed about the behavior, it’s sad. But it’s the internet. And the internet is often a showcase for our fallen human nature. I just hope you don’t think that this type of behavior is somehow different on the other side of the aisle – think of dailykos.

  4. M.Z. Forrest says:

I haven’t perused the other side all that much. Just from people’s description of it, dailykos has no appeal to me. Perhaps it is just impossible to have a widely popular site for adults on the Internet. I actually have respect for a few of the contributors there. And I do appreciate the irony that we don’t edit this site as tightly as we should.

    MZ,

I agree. The discussion needs to be elevated from the “Obamessiah” level if one is to take them seriously. The same applies to the other side of the aisle that call McCain “McFossil” and such.

  6. M.Z. Forrest says:

My greater concern there is for the mocking of the Second Person of the Trinity. There are some things that should be held Sacred, and I think the Messiah is one of them. There are ways of arguing that some Obama followers act cultish without cheapening the faith.

  7. Katerina says:

    Good point, MZ.

  8. The poster at RedState in reply to your post almost proves your original point anyway:

He (it’s got to be a he because the person whines like a girl, but a girl would generally not sound so pretentious),

That reminds me why I really don’t read blogs and stick to books instead.

the best of redstate – we’re just, gosh, “strange”.

i would have expected more. even given their current state of declination.

but then, blind conviction and tunnel vision – they are. with no other, outlet, idea, concept, etc.

they are, righteous. they are, so right.
