Seen Sicko?
May 2, 2008
Sure there are plenty of holes, but overall Sicko seems to be a strong indictment on the health care industry in the United States. Much of it resonates in my own personal experience, as well as that of my own family. If you have some time this weekend, watch the whole thing, even if only to hear the experience of a number of individual Americans.

If you want to see the whole thing strung together, that is instead of chunks, I put the 13 parts together here or I am sure you can find it on bittorrent and Michael Moore has said he has no problems putting it out there for the taking.
enjoy Easter
peace to all
Some Vox-Nova readers might be interested in this mixed review (right on the diagnosis, wrong on the prescription) of the film by Austan Goolsbee, who is one of Obama’s top economic advisers (or at least was until recently). Here’s the opener:
“Michael Moore’s shtick cracks me up. As entertainment, most of his movies are great fun. In Sicko, though, he goes beyond his usual ranting. After spending the first half of the movie railing against the American health-care system, he actually puts forward a policy prescription. Moore thinks the United States should adopt a free, single-payer, national health system like Canada, the United Kingdom, France, or Cuba—socialized medicine, in the words of his critics.
“So, how does the movie stand up on policy grounds? Moore is right in his indictment of the American health-care system but overhasty in his readiness to blow it up. ”
I can’t say I agree with everything Goolsbee says in the article, but the piece is definitely worth reading.

Austan Goolsbee gets lost in details. MM’s perspective is much better.

Of course Canada does not have “socialized medicine” like Cuba.
Thanks for that. Good movie.
We really need to stop Clinton and Obama from expanding private insurance.
I saw this movie in Rome — the poster read, “If you want to enjoy perfect health in the USA, don’t get sick!”
