Have more respect for the life of a Great American on the day of his passing!
As a lifetime NRA member I say: Thank you and rest in peace, Charlton Heston.
Oh, and it would have been nice if you had mentioned his prominent, active – and early -participation in the Civil Rights Movement. Eg, he picketed a segregated movie theater back in 1961.
You know I am glad you mentioned his CIvil Rights stuff. When he did Omega Man the Interracial Stuff was pretty controversal at the time in parts of the country.

Did Poli show the man any disrespect?
RIP Chuck.
It’s time now for someone to pry the gun from his “cold dead hands”.
Joseph – You beat me to it!
Another great American passes.
In pacem requiat.
“Did Poli show the man any disrespect?”
Not enough!
Peace be unto his soul!
Michael J. Iafrate,
Isn’t it about time you grew up and replaced your intellectual and moral petiteness with some substance?
Great man, great causes.
Michael J. – Learn to shut the heck up with your “demonic” bullsh*t.
Well, Michael I., it appears that we have to face the sad situation that some of our commentors deliberately seek out bickering and argumentation with or without cause. Very classy, very Catholic.
Like this very classy, very Catholic statement?
“It’s time now for someone to pry the gun from his “cold dead hands”.”
Ah, the classic “he did it first” counter-argument. Very sophisticated, although Michael I. did not make that statement.
It was Heston who came up wit that juvenile phrase in tehy first place. Remember the church condemns the macho-machismo culture.
You people really are something else.
Speaking of juvenile, let’s mock a man who marched for equality and freedom, especially after he dies.
No, I didn’t make the statement, but it’s a statement I would make. Hardly “un-Catholic” to make that sort of comment in light of Heston’s original, arrogant, macho “from my cold, dead hands” rhetoric. Classy? Perhaps not. Was “from my cold, dead hands” particularly classy? Of course not.
And can you believe the usual suspects are disappointed that Policraticus didn’t elaborate on the man’s supposed “virtues”? Priceless. Can’t wait to see the Catholic blogosphere nuts erupt with calls for Heston’s canonization.
TeutonicTim’s gun obsession gets funnier and funnier every day.
Heston will not be appropriately honored until I see more Latin obsequies!
“De mortuis nil nisi bonum”
Seems pagan Rome condemned speaking ill of the dead.
But, . . .
“TeutonicTim’s gun obsession gets funnier and funnier every day.”
OK World’s smartest West Virginian, who the heck mentioned guns?
“No, I didn’t make the statement, but it’s a statement I would make. “
You disgust me.

So who is moderating this thread?
Why all the edginess from usual suspects tonight?

Thanks guys! It’s been fun watching you eggheads defend your arrogant childishness.
Hmmm….here’s dim bulb’s first comment in the thread:

Here’s the second:

Yeah…kettle…black…you know.
