Raymond Arroyo corrects a confused email that implies that the Catholic Church is or was on the conservative side of the political landscape. Arroyo does an adequate job. CNS Editor-in-chief, Terence Jeffrey, sets the record straight on McCain’s alleged “pro-life” positions:

    McCain’s obstinacy regarding the stem cell issue is very frustrating. If he would change his view on this, I could support him in good conscience. As it stands….

    I’ve often heard it said that the Church is not “conservative” or “liberal”. In a sense that is true – it cannot be put exclusively into one camp. But that is not to say the Church does not hold in common with “liberals” on certain issues and “conservatives” on other issues.
