Political Quiz
The folks at Inside Catholic were having fun showing their answers to the world’s shortest (and not entirely valuabe unless you’re a member of the liberterian cult) quiz. I figured I would share my score with the readers. I guess I’ll have to be content to be included with the communists and other statists. For the record, I’m a monarchist.
Statist description from the quiz:
STATISTS want government to have a great deal of power
over the economy and individual behavior. They frequently
doubt whether economic liberty and individual freedom
are practical options in today’s world. Statists tend to distrust
the free market, support high taxes and centralized
planning of the economy, oppose diverse lifestyles,
and question the importance of civil liberties.

I’m curious, MZ: what sort of monarchy (and which king) do you support?
Absolute monarchy for me. The Romanov’s is one of the dynasties I have more interest. The Bourbons are also interesting. English royalty I don’t find as interesting.
It put me as a “centrist” though I’m sure I’d have ended up much more libertarian if the questions had been worded slightly differently.
By the way, there’s no contradiction between being a Monarchist and being a libertarian. Libertarians tend to be only provisionally supportive of democracy, after all:

Bah! You had to drag that out, didn’t you? Every single libertarian that I knew in college (and that was quite a large number) wanted me to take it. Apparently it was a breakthrough for them to discover that there could be two dimensions to the political spectrum. At the time, I ended up on the corner between “Libertarian”, “Right Conservative” and “Centrists”. I suspect now (link isn’t working) that I’d be somewhere on the boundary between “Right Conservative” and “Statist”.

Libertarian leading towards the right. 60% on personal issues and 90% on economic issues. Amusing considering the number of harsh things I have said about Libertarianism over the year.
Personal Issues 40%, economic 100% – the quiz does not do a good job federalistically.

See, I’m not a libertarian like all you say. Wouldn’t surprise me if more people here were statists though…
